How can discount cosmetics websites afford to sell mega brands so cheaply?

Many of the products on these websites are rancid and I would not put them anywhere near my face. Most makeup products only have a 2 year shelf life and they will go bad. I've seen products at those type of stores that we haven't have in the department for over 5 years!!!
